What is a futon?
A futon is a convertible sofa-sleeper which sits as a sofa by day, bed by night and is available in single, full, and queen sizes. It consists of a frame (wood or metal) and a futon (mattress) and can be beautifully decorated with a removable slip cover.
What goes into a futon mattress?
Just about anything you can think of, cotton batting, foam, polyester fiber, inner springs, memory foam, recycled plastic bottles, wool batting, shredded rags, and there may be more, who knows.
Which one futon mattress is best?
Just depends on how often you plan to use it. Will it be slept on every night, sat on every day? Do you want a plush feel – a firm feel, something in between, or perhaps a conventional inner spring mattress feel. We have it all and the choice is yours. We will help you in getting the right one.
How long should it last?
Anywhere from 5-15 years on average, depending on how well you take care of it. Futons get firmer with time. If you like a firm sleeping surface, then you will hold on to your futon for a good long time.
How thick are your futon mattresses?
We can have any thickness made for you, from 3" up to 10". It is a misconception to think that one 8" futon is the same as any other 8" futon from any other store or merchant.
Can I get different wood finishes on the futon frames from what is pictured?
Yes, most of the frames are offered in three, four and even five finishes. Natural, rosewood, cherry, pecan, black, teak, honey oak.
If I see a futon frame on your site, do I have options to choose from?
Yes – you can choose different finishes for each frame style and you may choose a loveseat style, a chair and ottoman footstool, a single loveseat, a queen size. Much to choose from.
Can I buy just the frame of just the futon mattress?
Yes, they can be purchased to your liking.
How long does it take once I order?
Generally, if the frame is in stock – 1-2 days, if the frame needs to be ordered – 8-14 days.

What do covers start at?
We have prints and solid colors from $39 and $49, and we have exotic designer tapestry fabrics well over a $100 – we have everything for every body, all types of fabric choices. Just estimating, we have maybe 1100 – 1250 fabric choices, but just one for you. You will know it when you see it!
Are covers washable?
Some are and some are dry clean. It all depends on the fabric, and the label tells you how to care for your cover.
Do regular size single, full (double), and queen sheets fit?
Yes, they do.
Can you make custom sizes?
For the futon mattress, yes, we do bay window seat cushions, shiatsu massage mats, camping and thin roll up floor mats, chair cushions, porch swings, travel trailer and fifth wheels and dog beds. Try us. If its square or rectangular, no problem, we can do it.
Are futon sofa-beds comfortable?
Well, yes they are. Because comfort is what you make it – that means what is firm and comfortable to one person, maybe be hard and too "ungiving" to another, that is why we offer so many different types of futon mattresses. Futons have conventional sofa sleepers beat! You can choose the mattress you like, you can redecorate and change the cover design easily. You can clean the cover. The frame converts easily to bed position. There are no uncomfortable metal bars in the middle of your back like those traditional, heavy, big, take up the whole room, old, clunky hide-a-beds.
