Cotton and foam was introduced to soften the firmness of the original all cotton futon. We use both flat block foam and also convoluted "egg crate" foam. It costs a little more than all cotton but has distinct advantages. It does several different things. First of all it decreases the overall weight of the futon and it allows the futon mattress to retain its shape when upright in the sofa position. There by eliminating the sagging futon dilemma. The density of the foam can change the way the futon feels when you sit on it. You can go from a soft/plush feel, to a medium cushiony feel, all the way up to a firm solid feel. There are many options and lots of advantages to a cotton-foam futon.

Basic

This futon mattress has a one piece foam core in the center. What this does is add uniformity to the overall shape of the mattress. It also adds strength when using it on a A-frame style of frame. This futon can be made anywhere from a 5" up to 9" thick.
Deluxe


This is a great all around mattress made either 7" 8" 9" thick using two pieces of convoluted "egg crate " type foam in the core of the mattress. This foam is of a medium to high density and works exceptionally well for a bifold sofa style futon frame as well as for a platform bed. The 9" thick is a great choice for those who plan to use the futon for everyday use or sleeping. This is an excellent multi purpose futon that has long lasting durable qualities.
 
Plushcor


The plushcor has as its characteristic feel a slow release foam that allows the body to gently sink into the futon. If you like extra firm, firm or even medium firm this is not the futon mattress for you. This is for the person that wants to melt and sink into their furniture. The core of this futon is four and a half inches of solid mid density foam wrapped with five layers of cotton batting on each side to fill out the depth and add softness to the surface. You have to try this one to see if it will work for you. Everybody has their own preference for comfort and their own liking. If you like soft, then try this one.
